CONCACAF League 2019: Schedule, Fixtures, Venue, Format and Live Stream of The 2019 Scotiabank CONCACAF League

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) divulged the dates and the kickoff times for the preliminary and round of 16 matches of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League. The 2019 CONCACAF League (formally the 2019 Scotiabank CONCACAF League for sponsorship purposes) will be the 3rd edition of the CONCACAF League, a football club competition organized out by CONCACAF, the regional administering assemblage of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The pairings for the first two rounds of the competition were arranged at the official draw Guatemala City on Thursday, May 30, 2019.

The competition was extended from 16 to 22 teams for the 2019 edition, with the addition of a preliminary round. The six new entrants are five teams from Central America, which had beforehand directly qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League, and a team from Canada playing in the Canadian Premier League, bringing the total number of teams playing in the CONCACAF League/Champions League from 31 to 32. In addition, a total of six teams presently qualify from the CONCACAF League to the CONCACAF Champions League, implying that the victors of the 2019 CONCACAF League and the next best five teams will qualify for the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League.

2019 CONCACAF League Qualification

An aggregate of 22 teams take an interest in the CONCACAF League:

  • North American Zone: 1 team (from one association)
  • Central American Zone: 18 teams (from seven associations)
  • Caribbean Zone: 3 teams (from two or three associations)

Hence, teams from either 10 or 11 out of the 41 CONCACAF member associations may take an interest in the CONCACAF League.

The draw for the 2019 CONCACAF League was held on 30 May 2019, at 20:00 Eastern Time, at the Grand Tikal Futura Hotel in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

2019 CONCACAF League Format

In the CONCACAF League, the 22 teams play a single-elimination competition. Each tie is played on a home-and-away two-legged premise.

In the preliminary round, round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals, the away goals standard will be applied if the total score is tied after the second leg. On the off chance that still tied, the penalty shoot-out will be utilized to decide the champ (Regulations II, Article H).

In the finals, the away goals principle won’t be applied, and additional time will be played if the total score is tied after the second leg. In the event that the total score is as yet tied after additional time, the penalty shoot-out will be utilized to decide the winner (Regulations II, Article H).

The 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League will keep on being played in a knockout format with home-and-away fixtures, with 12 clubs taking part in a new preliminary round. The first and second leg matches of the preliminary round are scheduled to be played from July 30 – August 1 and August 6 – August 8 , as follows (listed in ET and home team listed first):

For different domains, the competition will be accessible on Concacaf GO (subject to an area confinements). Most of the states will broadcast 2019 CONCACAF League matches via Fox Sports 3 Cono Norte and FOX Play Norte.
