Ahmed Zaki Metwally Abdelrahman Badawi (أحمد زكي متولي عبد الرحمن بدوي‎) was born on 18 November 1949 in the city of Zagazig, around 50 miles north of Cairo, Egypt. He was commonly known as Ahmed Zaki (أحمد زكي‎).

Nicknamed the “Black Tiger” after his titular role in a 1984 boxing film, Zaki was one of the first dark-skinned actors to play leading roles in Egyptian movies and assisted with changing the face of the Arab film industry forever.
