Alibaba Launches “Pic Copilot,” an AI-powered E-commerce Design Tool, in the US to Help Small Business Owners

Pic Copilot, an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) e-commerce design tool specifically designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the US, has been officially unveiled by Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group. The platform represents Alibaba’s most recent attempt to empower SMEs through technology, to assist businesses in reducing photography and design expenses while improving sales performance.

SMEs can simplify activities like background editing, picture and video upgrades, virtual try-ons, and ad development using Pic Copilot’s integration of 12 AI-powered design tools. Alibaba says that the technology increases the efficiency of product images by using real-world e-commerce data.

Pic Copilot’s AI uses a data annotation technique that is intended to concentrate on sales metrics. The tool prioritizes features that increase click-through rates over purely aesthetic enhancements by examining the effects of different image background elements across 240 product categories. According to Alibaba, users’ click-through rates have increased by double digits on average throughout the tool’s early trials.

Features Designed for U.S. Businesses

Pic Copilot’s U.S. launch offers several localized features:

  • Virtual Try-On Functionality: With over 160 models in four major skin tones, the platform is made to accommodate a variety of body types and skin tones. Entrepreneurs can serve as models for their product imagery by allowing businesses to post their own images.
  • Holiday-Themed Templates: Pic Copilot provides ready-made solutions for marketing campaigns by offering design templates that are exclusive to the United States and adapted to national holidays like Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and St. Patrick’s Day.

By reducing the need for professional photoshoots, these tools help small business owners save money and time.

Proven Achievement in the Black Friday Trials

More than 35,000 users worldwide created marketing materials utilizing Pic Copilot during its Black Friday trial run. Participants reported average savings of more than $200 per, and content created for Black Friday campaigns was used over 200,000 times.

Particularly popular was the tool’s virtual try-on feature, which allowed over 10,000 merchants to create over 80,000 model photos while saving thousands of dollars on photography costs per retailer.

Incentives for U.S. SMEs

Alibaba is providing 50 free credits to new Pic Copilot customers to promote adoption among U.S. businesses. For up to 15 products, SMEs can produce or update marketing materials for free with this introductory offer. More than 60% of consumers choose to renew their marketing materials beyond the trial period, according to early data, indicating high engagement.
