CISCE Collaborates with OECD for a Pioneer Teachers Skill Building Workshop

Hyderabad, India (October 30, 2024) – In line with the recommendations of the NEP-2020 CISCE has taken various initiatives to infuse competency-based education of global standards in its affiliated schools.  The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is collaborating with the Education and Skills Directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to conduct an intensive five-day workshop for its secondary level teachers on ‘Educational Measurement and Item Development’. This workshop is designed to introduce evidence-based concepts and methods of Educational Measurement amongst CISCE teachers and provide them with practical experience in developing suitable measurement instruments to assess 21st century skills and global competencies. This workshop is scheduled from 21st – 25th October 2024 at CISCE’s Centre of Excellence, Hyderabad.

The initiative is in alignment with the CISCE systemic reforms to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and assessments in CISCE affiliated schools. Around 150 secondary level subject teachers from CISCE-affiliated schools across India will participate in this skill-building workshop which will be conducted by a team of distinguished experts from the Education and Skills Directorate of OECD with the objective to introduce global best practices of teaching and assessments in the CISCE ecosystem.

Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Chief Executive and Secretary at CISCE expressed his enthusiasm about this upcoming workshop and stated that, “This collaboration with the Education and Skills Directorate of OECD marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to elevate the standards of education and assessment in India. By investing in our teachers’ professional development, we are ultimately investing in the future of our students.”

This initiative is expected to have a far-reaching impact, benefiting thousands of students across CISCE-affiliated schools nationwide. It underscores CISCE’s commitment to fostering innovation in education and ensuring that Indian students receive world-class assessment on par with international standards.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), established in 1958, is a premier non-governmental national level education board in India. For over six decades, CISCE has been a beacon of educational excellence, artfully blending traditional values with a global vision. At its core, CISCE is committed to serving the nation’s children through high-quality educational endeavors.
