The “Dancing With the Stars” finale is almost here! In the semifinals on Tuesday night, each of the five remaining pairs performed two complete routines: a ballroom and a Latin dance. They were all very excited to see the finale the next week, so emotions were running high.
Jason Mraz acknowledged in the episode that he truly didn’t want to go on “a few weeks ago.” He stated on Tuesday night, “I wanted to throw in the towel.” “I’m very happy I didn’t.”
He revealed to co-host Julianne Hough after his first dance that, despite his desire to go, he would never give up on pro-Daniella Karagach, his partner: “My partner is amazing. She wants to be here, I want to be here.”
It wasn’t just the dancers who felt moved. Derek Hough broke down in tears as he mentioned that this season’s contestants are vying for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy and that Len would have cherished that routine following Xochitl Gomez’s ballroom dance. Additionally in tears, Carrie Ann Inaba said to Gomez, “You really touched my heart. It transported me to another world. I felt like I never wanted it to end and that’s so rare after 32 seasons.”
After their second dance, Alyson Hannigan and Ariana Madix both started crying and sobbed, telling their partners how much they deserved to be in the finals.
The co-hosts unveiled a shocking twist at the end of the evening: all five couples will dance in the finale for the first time ever. The votes and scores from Tuesday night will be carried over to the final. You can scroll below to see each one.
