National FFA Week 2024: Students Across the Country to Celebrate Agriculture on the Week of George Washington’s Birthday

National FFA Week, which falls during George Washington’s birthday week, is a time to honor the future generation of farmers. Washington’s dedication to and involvement in agriculture are honored by this event. Celebrate agriculture and FFA this month with FFA members across the country, in Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. All of this is a part of FFA Week nationally.

Members of the FFA Association use National FFA Week as an opportunity to spread the word about the value of agricultural education and the National FFA Organization’s role in producing future agricultural leaders.

FFA produces the leaders of tomorrow who will transform society. FFA, the top school-based youth leadership development organization in the country, encourages members to explore their interests in different career pathways and develop their unique talents in order to help young people meet new challenges in agriculture. Future leaders, food suppliers, inventors, and more are FFA members!

From Saturday to Saturday is National FFA Week, which includes George Washington’s birthday on February 22. This year, the week begins on February 17 and ends on Saturday, February 24.

Commencing in 1948, the National FFA Board of Directors established a weeklong custom to honor Washington’s contributions as a farmer and agriculturist. FFA was established in 1928 by a group of young farmers, and since then, it has shaped generations of people’s perceptions of agriculture, which goes beyond simple planting and harvesting to include science, business, and other aspects.

“National FFA Week is a meaningful week for members across our country as we celebrate an organization that is welcoming to all and crucial to developing the next generation of leaders and those who will fill the ever-growing need in the talent pipeline,” said National FFA Advisor Dr. Travis Park. “Not only is it an opportunity to share our message with a broader audience, but it’s also an opportunity for our FFA chapters and members to celebrate agriculture and agricultural education while thanking their supporters — their local alumni and supporters chapters, agriculture teachers, or local businesses.”

FFA members use National FFA Week as an opportunity to educate their fellow students and the community about agriculture. Additionally, chapters participate in a variety of community service projects throughout the week.

Throughout the week, the six National FFA Officers will interact with chapters around the country by giving speeches, greetings, workshops, and other events.

FFA members in Texas and Arkansas will receive a visit from President Amara Jackson. Emily Gossett, vice president of the Western Region, will visit FFA members in Georgia and Florida. FFA members in Colorado and Iowa will receive a visit from Morgan Anderson, the vice president of the Eastern Region. Kanyon Huntington, the vice president of the Central Region, will meet with FFA members in Virginia and Kentucky. FFA members in Connecticut and Maryland will receive a visit from Vice President Carter Howell of the Southern Region. FFA members in Alaska and Idaho will receive a visit from Secretary Grant Norfleet.

More than 945,000 students participate in the National FFA Organization, a school-based organization that develops young leaders, through 9,163 local FFA chapters spread throughout all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
