Royal Enfield to establish the first assembly plant in Argentina, outside of India

Automaker Royal Enfield on Wednesday declared that it will start local assembly of bikes in Argentina in partnership with Grupo Simpa. Royal Enfield collaborated with Grupo Simpa in 2018 which is the local distributor in the country for RE.

This will be the first time in RE’s modern history that its bikes will be assembled and created outside the firm’s manufacturing sites in Chennai, India. The organization declared that the event for the local assembly declaration was gone to by Alberto Fernández, President of Argentina.

This advancement comes as an amazement since Thailand was set to host the first assembly plant of Royal Enfield outside India in mid-2019. The organization had likewise spoken about having a thumped down plant in Vietnam as well.

Royal Enfield entered the Argentinian bike market back in March 2018. It thought of its first store in Vicente Lopez, Buenos Aires. From that point forward, RE has extended its customer touch-points to five stores in Argentina which is among the greatest mid-capacity bike markets in Latin America. Overall, the retro bike maker has 31 exclusive stores and 40 other retail touch-points in all of the Latin American nations.

RE’s Argentinien assembly unit will be based at Grupo Simpa’s facility located in Campana, Buenos Aires. This plant will be liable for assembling three models – Himalayan, Interceptor 650, and the Continental GT 650. The production of these models will begin this month.

Talking about the declaration, Mr. Vinod K Dasari, CEO, Royal Enfield, stated, “Over the last couple of years, we have grown our international presence significantly and now have a retail presence across 60 countries. With a strategic view to cater to growing demand and to gain significant market advantage, we have been pursuing our plans to set up local assembly units across specific markets in the Asia Pacific region and across South America. In the first of these, we are very happy to announce the first CKD assembly plant in Argentina.”

Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia are among the three most significant markets for Royal Enfield in Latin America. Outside of India Royal Enfield 660 dealerships and 82 exclusive brand stores in urban areas, for example, Milwaukee, London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Melbourne, Sao Paulo, Bogota, Medellin, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Dubai, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, and Ho Chi Minh City.
