World Music Day 2019: History, Interesting Story Of Fete de la Musique Origin and Theme

World Music Day 2019 or International Music Day 2019 will be seen on June 21. June 21, denotes the start of summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year and is likewise celebrated as Fete de la Musique or World Music Day. The day likewise coincides with International Day of Yoga.

World Music Day: History and Interesting History Behind It

World Music Day began in France in 1980s, however was first proposed by American artiste Joel Cohen in 1976 to mark summer solstice.

In October 1981, French Minister of Culture Jack Lang designated Maurice Fleuret as the director of music and dance. The duo conceived an occasion that will permit all musicians – beginner and experienced – to express themselves.

The first World Music Day or Fete de la Musique occurred on June 21, 1982 – the year’s summer solstice in the North hemisphere. A great many residents came out to part in the activity the whole way across France, till late at night. It later became a (part) national holiday.

World Music Day 2019: Theme

In India, Exchange4Media and Loudest.in are hosting annual music conference, Music Inc. Around 60 speakers are relied upon to be available at the occasion. The theme is ‘Music at the intersections’.

Vh1 India and MTV Beats are likewise set to celebrate World Music Day on Facebook. Hashtag for the occasion is #LongLiveMusic. The 24 hours occasion will begin at Midnight on June and will be the hosted on Facebook live in India. Around 40 artists from various types will perform in the show.

The World Music Day 2019 will be celebrated at 700 urban areas in 120 nations like India, China, Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, the United States and more.
