The 2022 Candidates Tournament played in Madrid, Spain proceeds with its course looking for a challenger for Magnus Carlsen, the world champion. Here you will track down the dates of round 10 and the standings after 9 rounds.
The most applicable game of round 9 was the one played by the two best players in the tournament up to this point: Ian Nepomniachtchi and Fabiano Caruana. The Russian played a Petroff defense, undoubtedly a risky decision, since, although it is a solid defense, the American is quite possibly the best specialist in that protection and obviously he would know how to play against it. As a matter of fact, eventually, he was better, however, he was unable to exploit it and in the end, the result was a draw.
As mentioned previously, this game was the most significant, yet off by a long shot to the most fascinating particularly thinking that there were three games that finished in victories in this round. The first of them includes the other American player in the tournament, Hikaru Nakamura, albeit unfortunately for him it was not good news: he was defeated by Teimour Radjabov.
Alireza Firouzja at long last emerged from the lower part of the standings beating Richard Rapport, whose performance has been very unpredictable during the tournament. The remaining game was the victory of the Chinese Ding Liren against the Polish Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who with this defeat is rearward in the standings with a performance that up to this point has been a genuine disappointment.
