ABC’s Station 19 Season 7 Will End

The seventh season of ABC’s Station 19 will be its final one. Early in the season’s development, the choice was made to enable the first responder drama, a spinoff of the network’s flagship Grey’s Anatomy, to have a fitting conclusion.

Station 19 will air its 100th episode of Season 7, which was interrupted by the two Hollywood strikes before it concludes. Ten episodes will make up the seventh season of the show, which has already aired 95 episodes.

Station 19 became ABC’s second-ranked drama series behind Grey’s Anatomy in the last few seasons, helped by frequent crossovers with the popular show Grey’s Anatomy. Throughout its tenure, the show has also been praised for addressing significant and occasionally challenging subjects. For its portrayal of systemic racism in Season 6, the show was recently honored with a Sentinel Award from Hollywood, Health & Society.

Going into Season 7, Station 19 has seen a lot of changes. Peter Paige and Zoanne Clack, who succeeded Krista Vernoff as showrunners, are the new ones. (Clack was named head writer of the series in August 2022, during a writers’ room upheaval that revealed long-simmering racial issues on the show.)

Station 19 will also move from 8 PM to 10 PM on Thursdays in Season 7, which debuts on March 14. Grey’s Anatomy will now be the lead-in show. With just one crossover scheduled for the forthcoming shortened season, the spinoff will now be less dependent on the mothership series and more independent as a result of the scheduling change.

Produced by ABC Signature, a division of Disney TV Studios, and Shondaland, the series is executive produced by Stacy McKee, Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Betsy Beers, and Paris Barclay.

“For seven seasons Station 19 has been a highlight of the ABC lineup thanks to Shonda and Betsy’s incredible vision, beloved characters, and compelling storytelling,” said Craig Erwich, president, of Disney Television Group. “With Zoanne and Peter at the helm of the upcoming farewell season, we have so much to look forward to, most notably the celebration of the show’s milestone 100th episode.”

Station 19, a Seattle-based drama directed by McKee, centers on the lives of the personnel at Seattle Fire Station 19. The actors who appear in it include Jaina Lee Ortiz, Carlos Miranda, Josh Randall, Merle Dandridge, Barrett Doss, Alberto Frezza, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre, Miguel Sandoval, Boris Kodjoe, Stefania Spampinato, and Pat Healy.

ABC is adding a new first responder drama, Fox Transplant 9-1-1, which will take over Station 19’s Thursday 8 PM slot while Station 19 is preparing to leave.
