There are many countries eager to win the continental title at the 2025 European Championships, which will be held in Funchal, Portugal, from June 2 to 5.
Spain, under the leadership of Andrea Fuentes, is one of the clear favorites and will continue to rely on the squad that has performed well in the World Cup. With 14 players, they have the second-largest team in the competition, only surpassed by Italy’s 16.
The Spanish squad retains the core that won bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics and won nine medals, including five gold, at the most recent World Cup in Markham, Canada.
France, which placed fourth at the most recent Olympics, is also anticipated to fight for medals, and Italy is a strong contender for continental honors. France will compete in two disciplines, acrobatics and technicals, where they are currently placed third and sixth in the world, respectively.
Great Britain can count on players like Olympic and world duet medallist Izzy Thorpe and the current European men’s technical solo champion Ranjuo Tomblin, who is aiming for the podium in both the individual and mixed duet competitions.
Dennis González of Spain and Filippo Pelati, a promising talent from Italy, also compete in both divisions.
The Alexandri sisters of Austria, Anna-Maria, Eirini Marina, and Vasiliki, are also worth seeing. In the Paris 2024 duet competition, the two oldest siblings placed fourth.
