Speculators of “Wizards of Waverly Place” should rejoice, as the magical siblings Alex and Justin Russo will be returning to television in the pilot for the new series “Wizards.”
Disney Branded Television has confirmed that Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who portrayed Alex and Justin in the 2007 original series, will serve as the pilot’s executive producers.
Henrie will frequently play Justin in the pilot, while Gomez is scheduled to make a guest appearance. Newcomers to Waverly Place like Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos will also be part of the cast.
According to the press release, the magical follow-up tells the tale of Justin, who decides to live a normal life with his family and quit his work at WizTech. However, one day, a formidable young wizard knocks on his door, asking to be trained. “Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.”
The writers of “That’s So Raven” reboot, Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, also wrote the pilot episode.
Gomez shared a throwback picture of herself and Henrie on the “Wizards of Waverly Place” set on her Instagram story, writing, “We’re back.” Along with a screenshot of Deadline’s report, she also shared a photo of what appears to be the “Wizards” pilot script with the caption, “Home again,” expressing her excitement.
Henrie and Disney Channel also dropped hints about the news by sharing the front cover of the pilot script on Instagram with a wand next to it.
Henrie captioned his post, saying, “The Russos are excited to become a part of your family, but we’ve grown.” “2024, the year magic comes back.”
