Google Celebrates Cherry Blossom Season with Animated Doodle

Today’s animated Google Doodle celebrates cherry blossom season, the moment when cherry trees sprout in Spring.

Spring is here, bringing the beauty of cherry blossoms! This Doodle celebrates the short-lived magnificence of these delicate pink blossoms, known as sakura in Japanese. Cherry blooms are the national flower of Japan, so March and April are continuously an extraordinary time for hanami (花見), the tradition of blossom viewing.

Today’s Google Doodle celebrates the arrival of the Cherry Blossom Season. Made by Tokyo-based artist Hidekiyo Hirasawa, it captures the magnificence of this annual occasion. Cherry blooms, or “sakura” in Japan, flag the beginning of spring and charm numerous with their charm.
