The legendary Lucasarts adventure series Monkey Island will return later this year with an all-new game, suitably entitled Return for Monkey Island, headed up by original series maker Ron Gilbert. Return to Monkey Island is developed by Ron Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox, published by Devolver Digital and LucasFilm, and coming in 2022.

One of the best video game series of all time is making a return in 2022 with some of its key original creatives ready. Return to Monkey Island is “a game by Ron Gilbert,” who conceived the point-and-click comedy-adventure saga in the late ’80s.

Return to Monkey Island is being developed by Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox studio, in collaboration with Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games, the legendary studio label revived by Disney in mid-2021.
