Tribeca Festival 2025: Date, Time, Lineups, Performances, Tickets and How to Watch

The annual Tribeca Festival, a 12-day celebration of storytelling in movies, TV shows, music, and other media, will shortly take place in New York City. “Billy Joel: And So It Goes,” an HBO documentary about the legendary musician, will have its world premiere on Wednesday, June 4, at The Beacon Theatre, the festival’s opening night. The festival, which was started in 2002 by Craig Hatkoff, Jane Rosenthal, and Robert De Niro, begins its 24th edition.
“With strong roots in independent film, Tribeca is synonymous with creative expression and entertainment,” the Tribeca website reads. “Tribeca champions emerging and established voices, discovers award-winning talent, curates innovative experiences, and introduces new ideas through exclusive premieres, exhibitions, conversations, and live performances.”

Expect amazing casts for feature films, including Tow (starring Rose Byrne, Demi Lovato, and Octavia Spencer), The Best You Can (starring Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick), Rosemead (starring Lucy Liu), Everything’s Going to be Great (starring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney), Deep Cover (starring Orlando Bloom and Bryce Dallas Howard), and the live-action movie How To Train Your Dragon (starring Mason Thames, Nico Parker, and Gerard Butler).
You’ll be delighted to learn about the TV lineup, which includes exclusive panels with cast members from major networks and streaming services such as Apple TV+, HBO, Prime Video, Paramount+, and others, as well as highly anticipated global premieres of new and returning shows. Big screenings at the top of our list include the world premiere of Apple TV+’s Smoke, a suspenseful drama starring Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett that follows a small-town fire chief as he uncovers dark secrets, fusing mystery, family, and crime; Prime Video’s We Were Liars, a psychological thriller series based on the novel by E. Lockhart; and the return of HBO’s The Gilded Age, which stars Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, and Cynthia Nixon; Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which stars Ethan Peck, Anson Mount, and Rebecca Romijn; and the season finale of MGM+’s historical drama, Godfather of Harlem, which stars Forest Whitaker.
The NYC comedy Seasoned, starring Mandy Patinkin; the drama series Hal & Harper, a coming-of-age drama starring Lili Reinhart, Betty Gilpin, and Mark Ruffalo; Earth to Percy, starring Jeremy Beiler, Amy Schumer, Josh Charles, Wyatt Cenac, and Maya Rudolph; and the dark, brash comedy Bulldozer, starring Mary Steenburgen, Kate Burton, and Oscar winner Nat Faxon, are all part of Tribeca’s Now section, which is dedicated to indie pilots and series. The Price of Milk by Nicholas Bruckman and Yoni Brook, as well as Mrs. America by storyteller Penny Lane, are featured docuseries within NOW.
Lastly, the festival organizers have announced that its Short Film Lineup will have 93 selections from 105 filmmakers, including 10 music videos and 82 films in competition. More than 30 countries are represented in the program, including Ecuador, Zimbabwe, and Curaçao for the first time. 49 world premieres, five international premieres, eight North American premieres, and 19 New York premieres—including How I Learned to Die Executive—are included in the list. Spike Lee produced Jean Jacket, which starred AnnaSophia Robb; Rosario Dawson and Colin Kaepernicka narrated and executive produced Kiss My Grass; and Ti West directed Kid Cudi’s Neverland, which had its world debut.

New and returning shows from various networks and streaming services had their world premieres on the TV lineup. This includes the premiere of the drama “Smoke” on Apple TV+, which stars Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett; the psychological thriller series “We Were Liars” on Prime Video, which is based on the best-selling novel by E. Other documentaries include “Barbara Walters Tell Me Everything,” which tells the story of the broadcast legend; “My Mom Jayne,” which tells the story of Mariska Hargitay, star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and her mother Jayne Mansfield’s life and tragic death; and, continuing with the music theme, “Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately?” which considers the well-known band that rose to fame overnight in the 1990s.
In addition, there will be a NOW section featuring newly produced independent pilots and series, as well as the premiere of 93 short films from 105 filmmakers. There are nine selections in the gaming program, and from June 11 to 15, the gallery will be offering free playable demos to the general public at Pier 57. A 30th anniversary special of “Casino” will bring actor Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese together for a post-screening discussion. Other events include a storytelling summit at Spring Studios, an audio storytelling lineup, and a series of talks, reunions, and retrospectives.
