It is almost time for Opening Night Live! Positioned neatly between Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley is returning with another showcase, expected to be filled with news and announcements covering the months ahead.

In this guide, you’ll find all the essential information about Opening Night Live 2026, including when the show begins, where you can watch it, and some of the games we expect to appear.

When Does Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 Begin?

Gamescom 2026 week takes place from August 26 – August 30. Opening Night Live gets the event started on August 25, ahead of the public opening on August 26 in Cologne, Germany at the Koelnmesse.

This year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase begins on Tuesday 25th August. Here is the precise start time for your region:

North America: 11am PDT / 12pm MDT / 1pm CDT / 2pm EDT
UK/Ire: 7pm BST
Europe: 8pm CEST / 9pm EEST

As is customary with many a Geoff fest, the livestream will also have a 30-minute pre-show, which could potentially include some game announcements of its own.

How Can You Watch Gamescom Opening Night Live?

This year’s Opening Night Live presentation will be available to watch through both The Game Awards’ official YouTube and Twitch channels.

How Long Will Opening Night Live 2026 Last?

Although Keighley and co. have yet to confirm an exact runtime for ONL 2026, the schedule listed on the Gamescom website indicates that the showcase should run for approximately two hours — broadly matching the duration we’ve seen in previous years.

Will Nintendo Games Appear During The Show?

No, it seems highly unlikely that any first-party Nintendo games will appear during Opening Night Live 2026, although that does not necessarily mean the showcase will be without other Switch 2 titles.

Last year’s presentation included games such as LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and Orbitals, along with an announcement for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Switch 2, so we’re hoping that 2026 proves to be equally exciting.

That said, Nintendo will have a presence on the show floor, providing hands-on opportunities with titles including Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, Modern Warfare 4, Orbitals, 007 First Light, Metaphor: ReFantazio and more on Switch 2.

Where Will Gamescom 2026 Be Held?

As with previous editions, Gamescom 2026 will be hosted in Cologne, Germany. Following the ONL presentation on 25th, the event will continue through 30th August, bringing additional game reveals, hands-on gaming opportunities and developer interviews.
