iOS 27 Release Date When Apple’s Next iPhone Update Is Expected

Apple’s upcoming major iPhone software update is iOS 27, and its public rollout is approaching quickly. Here’s when users can expect Apple to release iOS 27 to the public.

iOS 27 Is Expected to Arrive in September, Probably Mid-Month

iOS 27 represents the next major iPhone software update, and Apple has been testing it through beta releases throughout the summer.

After several months of beta testing, Apple consistently releases its major annual iOS updates to all users in September.

As a result, iOS 27 is anticipated to arrive sometime in September, most likely around the middle of the month.

Here are the release dates for iOS updates from the past few years:

  • iOS 26: Monday, September 15
  • iOS 18: Monday, September 16
  • iOS 17: Monday, September 18
  • iOS 16: Monday, September 12

Following this historical release pattern, iOS 27 is expected to launch on or around Monday, September 14.

Apple frequently confirms the official release date during its annual iPhone event, which generally takes place the previous week. Current expectations point to the iPhone 18 Pro being unveiled on or around September 9.

iOS 27 brings new capabilities to apps including Wallet, Photos, Messages, and Notes, along with improvements for CarPlay and AirPods, as well as the major Siri AI overhaul and additional changes.

The update will support all of the same iPhone models that are compatible with iOS 26.
