2025 Indianapolis 500: Full Race Day Schedule, Start Time, Lineup, Performers and How to Watch 109th Indy 500

The 109th Indianapolis 500 is the biggest single-day sporting event in the world, and since all grandstand seats are sold out, it’s too late to buy a ticket to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. On Sunday, May 25, 2025, the 109th Indianapolis 500 will take place on the oval course of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is 2.5 miles long. But there’s a lot of action on the track before the race.
The runner-up from the previous year, a rookie, and a two-time winner will all be in the front row of the 109th Indianapolis 500. Robert Shwartzman is going to lead the group to the green flag in his debut race. He is 25 years old.
The driver for Prema Racing has been steadily improving his qualifying performances during practice, and he made a timely appearance during the event. He had Takuma Sato with him. Previously, the former Formula 1 driver won the Indianapolis 500 after starting from the front row. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was deserted at the height of COVID-19. He will undoubtedly want to triumph in front of a boisterous audience.
Next up is Pato O’Ward, who came in second in 2022, fell out of second place in 2023, and lost to Josef Newgarden in 2024. Is the fourth time lucky?

Who Is Performing During the Indianapolis 500?
The Indy 500 motorsport event has several performances. Carb Day, the last practice day before the main race, kicks off the race weekend.
There will be two co-headliners for this year’s Carb Day concert on Friday, May 23. First up will be Bret Michaels of the 1980s metal band Poison, followed by The All-American Rejects, a pop-rock band from the early 2000s that gained popularity on TikTok for its backyard performances.
Are you planning to go to the concert? Vivid Seats, Gametime, and the Ticket Network are still selling last-minute tickets.
Watch ‘Pit Pass Live’ on the day of the Indy 500 race
On Sunday, May 25, just before the race, IndyStar will host Indy 500 drivers, Doug Boles, the boss of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and team owners in Gasoline Alley from 8 to 10 a.m. ET. The guests planned to attend are Kyle Larson, Tony Kanaan, Conor Daly, Mike Shank, Marcus Ericsson, Santino Ferrucci, and David Malukas. Do not forget to tune in!
Who are the favorites in the Indianapolis 500?
O’Ward, as previously mentioned, must be the favorite to win this year’s event. Although he is not far ahead of Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing, who has dominated the early stages of the IndyCar season, bookies have him at the shortest odds.
Another favorite is Palou’s teammate, Scott Dixon. He will certainly be included because of his tremendous experience and the fact that Chip Ganassi Racing is leading the pack in practice.
Scott McLaughlin, Josef Newgarden, and Will Power, the trio of Team Penske, are also undoubtedly competitors.
After destroying the speedway’s fastest car in practice just before qualifying, McLaughlin begins in 10th place, which may not be a true reflection of his speed.
To win it this year, Newgarden and Power will need to shatter a 90-year-old record. They begin at positions 32 and 33, respectively.
The lowest starting position from which a driver has ever won a race was 28th. That was last observed in 1936.
