The 18th Tour de Ski will take place in 2023–2024 in Toblach, Italy; Davos, Switzerland; and Val di Fiemme, Italy. It will begin on December 30, 2023, and end on January 7, 2024.
The 18th Tour de Ski will take place in 2023–24 and be a part of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. The World Cup stage event will start on December 30, 2023, in Toblach, Italy, and end on January 7, 2024, with the traditional Final Climb stage in Val di Fiemme, Italy. The tour will once again begin in Toblach. The previous edition’s winners were Frida Karlsson from Sweden and Johannes Høsflot Klaebo from Norway. The FIS Council suspended Russia and Belarus from competition for this World Cup season in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Every year in Central Europe, cross-country skiers compete in the Tour de Ski. The Tour de Ski normally consists of six to nine stages, with the winner being determined by the total time of the stages plus bonus seconds. The Tour de France, a cycling competition, served as the model for the Tour de Ski.
Every year, the stages and hosting locations change. Over the years, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and the Czech Republic have hosted Tour de Ski stages. Traditionally, the tour concludes in Val di Fiemme, Italy. The tour culminates with a protracted and precipitous ascent to the summit of Alpe Cermis mountain.
Since its first organization in 2006–2007, the Tour de Ski has been held annually.
A part of the FIS Cross-Country Skiing World Cup consists of Tour de Ski stages. Beginning with the 2022–2023 season, the FIS has unified the race distances for men and women in the World Cup and Tour de Ski.
Tour de Ski 2023-2024 – Schedule
Tour de Ski has taken note of the concerns raised regarding lengthy travel times between events. Events for the Tour de Ski 2023–2024 will only happen in three locations across two nations. In 2023–2024, there will be seven stages on the tour.
On December 30, 2023, the tour kicks off in Toblach, Italy, with free technique sprints. The same location will host 10 km interval races in the classic style the following day. On Monday, January 1, 2024, 20 km pursuits in free technique will be skied, marking the start of the third competition in Toblach.
The tour resumes with freestyle sprints in Davos, Switzerland on January 3rd, following a day off. Davos will host 20 km pursuits in classic technique the following day.
The tour will travel to Val Di Fiemme, Italy, its final destination, after Davos. There will be two races there on January 6 and 7, followed by a day of rest. On Saturday, the tour begins with a 15-kilometer mass start in classic technique, and on Sunday, it concludes with a strenuous 10-kilometer final climb in free technique.
For the fifth time in a row, the last stage is set up as a mass start rather than a chase.
Note: All times shown in the calendar are in Central European Time (CET), which is one hour ahead of UTC (UTC +1).
