People Magazine Names Patrick Dempsey the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2023
People magazine has named actor Patrick Dempsey the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2023. The actor made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 7, the late-night show, during which he was declared the winner. Mr. Dempsey, who drives race cars as well, takes the title of 2022 Sexiest Man Alive from Marvel actor Chris Evans.
The 57-year-old actor Patrick Dempsey is most known for his role as “McDreamy,” a neurosurgeon, in the long-running medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.” In addition, he gained recognition for his roles in the films Enchanted, Bridget Jones’s Baby, Made of Honour, Can’t Buy Me Love, Transformers, Lover Boy, and numerous others.
”I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,” Patrick Dempsey said.
When asked about his initial reaction to the news, Patrick Dempsey said, ”I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid. I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good.”
Notably, Mr. Patrick Dempsey has three children and is married to Jillian, the founder of a beauty line and makeup artist. ”Just going to make fun of me and pick on me and figure out every reason why I shouldn’t be,” the actor stated, adding that his children will keep him modest. “Which is good, they keep me young,” he continued.
In the Michael Mann-directed biopic “Ferrari,” the actor—who also drives race cars—will make a big screen comeback as Italian Formula One driver Piero Taruffi. The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star also established the Dempsey Center in honor of his late mother Amanda, Maine-based organization that aids cancer patients and their families.
Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Legend, Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth, and Channing Tatum are among the former winners of People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” title. People magazine has made the feature an annual event.
