GEMA Awards 2024: FX Named Global and North America Marketing Team of the Year
FX was selected Global and North America Marketing Team of the Year at Thursday’s inaugural GEMA Awards ceremony hosted by the Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, formerly known as Promax, relaunched in February, broadening its focus from television to include verticals for film, music, sports, and video game marketing executives.
The organization announced the winners of its North America, Global, Latin America, and Local competitions on Thursday night at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
Among other top awards, Scandinavian agency New Land was named Global Agency of the Year, as well as Europe Agency of the Year, and Zealot was selected North America Agency of the Year.
The new GEMA awards are timed to coincide with their respective fields’ awards seasons: film during Oscar season, music during Grammy season, television during Emmy season, and gaming in the fall when the Video Game Awards are held.
“GEMA is thrilled to honor outstanding work from around the globe in its first TV/Streaming Awards celebration in our new configuration,” said Stacy La Cotera, president and CEO of GEMA. “We were privileged to see so much of the best work that this industry has to offer through these competitions and we congratulate FX, New Land, and Zealot on their outstanding ‘of the year’ wins.”
Ron Funches, a comedian and “Loot” star, hosted the GEMA Awards. The GEMA Spotlight Honors were also announced, with Riot Games and YouTube’s Reel Rejects among the recipients. La Cotera stated that the awards “recognize innovation and inspiration across the transmedia landscape.”
“Both Riot Games and Reel Rejects are creative enterprises who have successfully extended their brands across platforms to reach fans wherever they may be,” she said. “We are happy to honor both of them with our first-ever Spotlight Honors.”
Global and North America TV/Streaming nominees and winners are chosen by a first round of online voting, followed by a second-round jury of industry peers to pick the winners. The winners of all four competitions can be found on gema.org.
