Google I/O 2025: New Features, Event Schedule, Start Time, What’s Coming, What to Expect and How to Watch

Google recently revealed that it will host a separate event to discuss upcoming Android improvements before I/O. Android ecosystem president Sameer Samat will be featured on The Android Show: I/O Edition, which will debut on YouTube and the Android website on May 13 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET. A whole week before Google I/O begins on May 20th, that is.

Tech enthusiasts know it’s event season as the weather warms and spring blossoms appear. Tech giants exhibit the best of the future at developer conferences every spring. Google I/O is less than a month away.

Google has released the list of initial sessions for I/O 2025, which is less than a month away. The conference’s four “focus areas” are cloud, web, AI, and Android.

It begins on Tuesday, May 20, at 10 a.m. PT with the two-hour “Google keynote.” At 1:30 p.m. PT, there will be a developer keynote for 90 minutes. “Discover how Google’s latest technologies and Gemini ecosystem enhance developer workflows, boost productivity, and enable innovative user experiences across Android devices, web browsers, and more.”

Google will also broadcast the main “What’s new” sessions later that day. Additionally, Demis Hassabis, the CEO of Google DeepMind, will be interviewed for 30 minutes “on the frontiers of AI.”

When is Google I/O?

The Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, will host the annual developer conference on May 20 and 21. On the first day of the conference, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, Google executives will take the stage for the keynote event, where they will introduce the company’s newest hardware and software.

How to watch Google I/O

For the public and press who are unable to attend in person, Google will live stream the event. You can watch the livestream by going to the Google keynote landing page closer to the event day, even though the link isn’t active yet.

Developers can take advantage of benefits like email updates and on-demand sessions by registering for the event’s digital experience for free on the Google I/O landing page.

You can still listen to the keynotes and sessions if you don’t register, but you won’t receive the recommendations and communications.

What to expect from Google I/O
