Sweden has won seven times in the Eurovision competition, having previously triumphed in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015. As a result, Sweden and Ireland are now tied for the most successful country in Eurovision. Additionally, Loreen became the second person overall and the first woman to win Eurovision twice.
The competition will be held in Malmö for the third time; it was held there in 1992 and 2013.
