Chrome OS currently has a built-in screen recorder to record virtual lessons
Google has reported that a built-in screen recorder is coming to Chrome OS in March. Google trusts the tool will make it simpler for students and teachers to record virtual lessons.
“Teachers have long recorded lessons to help students do homework and study for tests, but in the past year it’s become downright critical for virtual learning,” reads Google’s blog post.
It looks pretty straightforward. Whenever you’ve pressed the suitable button on your Chromebook, you’ll see a countdown in the center of your screen. While your Chromebook is recording, a red circle will show up on the right side of the shelf.
A few different tools for Chromebook students are underway too, and some have just shown up. Chrome OS’s screen reader, ChromeVox, has some new features: The voice currently changes dependent on the language of the text it’s reading, and you would now be able to look through its menus.
Moreover, parents would now be able to use Family Link (Google’s parental-control application) to deal with their children’s school accounts notwithstanding their own accounts. This implies screen-time limits, sleep times, and different limitations guardians place on their children’s personal accounts can apply to their school accounts also.
On the hardware side, Google has reported that it’s starting more than 40 new Chromebooks this year. It guarantees each model is “equipped to deliver exceptional Google Meet and Zoom experiences”.
To assist schools with navigating the new releases, the organization has put out a list of available Chromebooks, which incorporates configurations from Samsung, Lenovo, HP, Dell, Asus, and Acer, and tips for choosing the correct one.
The organization suggests various basic models, for example, Acer’s Chromebook Spin 511 and Lenovo’s 300e, as well as fancier gadgets like the Chromebook Spin 713 and Samsung’s $1,000 Galaxy Chromebook.
Some of these units incorporate LTE connectivity — Google is referring to these as “Always Connected” gadgets, and emphasizes their significance for students with restricted internet access (however purchasing a gadget with LTE can knock the cost up).
Chromebooks are large dealers in the education market, due partially to their affordability and districts’ widespread use of Google Classroom, Google’s online education portal. 2020 was the Chromebook’s greatest year ever, due generally to expanded demand from schools giving at-home instruction to the first time.
Google has been working out its services for remote schools and meetings since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the early months of remote schooling, Google made Meet gatherings with up to 100 members accessible to anybody with a Google account.
It’s additional various features to Meet also, with an end goal to stay aware of enormous contenders Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The organization has turned out custom backgrounds, blur effects, real-time captioning, low-light mode, and hand-raising in recent months.
