Saturday Night Live Brings in U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren meets Kate McKinnon as Fox News host Laura Ingraham
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren helped open “Saturday Night Live,” only days after consummation her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination by showing up as herself. The real-life Elizabeth Warren smashed the “Saturday Night Live” cold open in the wake of suspending her 2020 presidential campaign this week.
The show’s cold open included Kate McKinnon as Fox News host Laura Ingraham, guaranteeing watchers they don’t have anything to stress over when it came to coronavirus, naming worry over the virus “liberal fanfiction.”
McKinnon’s Ingraham was joined by visitors including Donald Trump Jr. (Mikey Day) and Eric Trump (Alex Moffat). Day’s Trump Jr. promised his father has “everything under control,” as his sibling gestured along while playing with his most up to date toy — a thermometer, which blares to demonstrate he has a high temperature.
Expelled MSNBC stay Chris Matthews (previous cast member Darrell Hammond) showed up, considering to Ingraham he may “get in trouble for saying this, but you look great.”
Ingraham’s final visitor: Elizabeth Warren — actually no, not McKinnon as Warren. The real one.
Speaking to McKinnon’s Ingraham, Warren said she’s “doing just fine,” thanking her loved ones for being steady in the outcome of her suspending her campaign — posing inquiries like “what do you need?” and “were you electable?”
Will the senator support Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders? Warren says “it’s tough.”
“Maybe I’ll just pull a New York Times and endorse them both,” she said.
All in all, Warren is “so proud of our campaign.” Most notably, not only did I not accept money from billionaires, I got to give one a swirly on live TV.”
McKinnon, who typically plays Warren on “SNL,” at that point traded her Ingraham outfit to match the one the real Warren was wearing. The two Warrens remained alongside one another on-screen as McKinnon thanked the politician for her contributions.
“I’m not dead, I’m just in the Senate,” Warren replied before the pair came together for “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
