FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Full List of Qualified Teams

A record number of teams are competing in the redesigned 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13. Before the event begins on June 14, the 32 teams have been confirmed, and among them are well-known clubs such as Real Madrid, PSG, and Inter Miami.

Thirty-two clubs selected from six FIFA confederations are divided into eight groups of four, with each team participating in three round-robin group stage matches.

From the round of 16 to the final, which will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the top two clubs from each group move on to the elimination stage.

Manchester City (2023) and Real Madrid (2022), the tournament’s most recent winners, are at the top of a long list of elite teams from all over the world, who are encouraged by the record $1 billion prize fund that is divided between the confederations and the clubs.

Up to $125 million could be awarded to the winning team.

This month, 32 clubs from all over the world will travel to the United States to compete for the Club World Cup, which is being marketed as FIFA’s new era of club football and a “prime club competition.”

The expanded competition, which will take place from June 14 to July 13, will feature clubs from six federations and 20 countries. It will begin with a group round and progress through three knockout phases before the final, which will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The worldwide players’ union, certain national organizations, and some clubs have criticized the idea of going from seven clubs to a full-fledged competition one year before the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico because of the packed schedule of fixtures.

Players may switch clubs during the tournament, therefore, the cost of tickets and the effect on the transfer window have also been disputed, as has the method used to determine qualification.

Importantly, unless more than two clubs from the same association won the biggest club championship in their confederation, such as the UEFA Champions League, during the four-year qualifying period, no national association may have more than two clubs.

AFC, or Asian Football Federation

Al Hilal- Saudi Arabia

In the 2021 AFC Champions League final, Al Hilal defeated the Korea Republic’s Pohang Steelers 2-0 at King Fahd Sports City to win the title. Their participation in the Club World Cup (CWC) will be their fourth appearance since 2019.

Urawa Red Diamonds- Japan

Urawa qualified by winning the AFC Champions League in 2022 and is now competing in their fourth World Club Cup. Their last J League victory was in 2006, however, they have won the AFC Champions League trophy three times (in 2007 and 2017, and 2022).

Al Ain- United Arab Emirates

The most recent AFC Champions League champions to earn a spot in their second tournament are Al Ain. When the league was renamed Champions League Elite and shifted from spring to autumn to autumn to fall, they became victorious in 2024.

Ulsan HD- South Korea

Ulsan was awarded fourth place based on their performance during the four-year qualifying period, even though they did not win the Champions League, because the AFC Champions League Elite schedule was altered during the rebranding, leaving only three winners during the qualifying period.

Confederation of Africa Football (CAF)

Al Ahly- Egypt

Due to their domination in the African CAF Champions League, Al Ahly’s allocation of four spots has become more difficult. The Egyptian champions are making their tenth appearance at the CWC and have won the continental title three times in the last four years.

Wydad AC- Morocco

Wydad’s 2022 CAF Champions League victory earned them a spot at their third CWC. The Red Devils’ home ground, Stade Mohammed V, hosted the match between them and Al Ahly. They recovered the title from the Egyptian powerhouses after defeating their longstanding rivals 2-0, thanks to a brace from Zouhair El Moutaraji.

Esperance de Tunis- Tunisia

Since Al Ahly had won the Champions League in three of the qualifying years, the federation used the CAF rankings to determine which other teams would advance to the CWC. Al Ahly defeated Esperance de Tunis in the 2024 Champions League final. They have risen to the top of the rankings and qualified for the CWC after winning 14 consecutive CAF Champions League titles.

Mamelodi Sundowns- South Africa

The South African team, which advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals and semifinals thrice during the four years, takes last place using the same pathway points system.

The Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf)

Monterrey- Mexico

After defeating Club America, another Mexican team, Monterrey emerged victorious in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League. They triumphed 1-0 in front of their home crowd, and Rogelio Funes Mori, a striker, scored the goal.

Seattle Sounders- US

As the first American team to win the Concacaf Champions League in 22 years, Seattle emerged victorious in 2022. After winning the second leg 3-0 at home, they defeated the Mexican team Pumas 5-2 overall.

Pachuca- Mexico

After defeating the Columbus Crew 3-0 the previous season, Pachuca is the current Concacaf Champions League champion. Salomon Rondon, a former striker for Everton, Newcastle United, and West Bromwich Albion, scored twice in the championship game.

Los Angeles FC- US

FIFA canceled Liga MX’s Club Leon in March for violating the rule that several teams cannot have the same owners, even though the team should have won the Concacaf Champions League in 2023. Instead, on May 31, LAFC, the MLS team, defeated Club America, the federation’s top-ranked team, which came in second behind Leon in 2023, in a play-in match.

The South American Football Confederation, or CONMEBOL

Palmeiras- Brazil

The Copa Libertadores champions over the four-year qualification period each receive a spot in CONMEBOL, which contains six spots. Palmeiras defeated Flamengo in an exciting Montevideo final in 2021.

Flamengo- Brazil

Flamengo defeated fellow Brazilian team Athletico Paranaense 1-0 in the final to win the Copa Libertadores in 2022.

Fluminense- Brazil

Fluminense won it in 2023 after defeating Boca Juniors 2-1 dramatically via a strike from John Kennedy in extra time.

Botafogo- Brazil

Despite using 10 men for the whole of the match, Botafogo defeated Atletico Mineiro 3-1 to win the Copa Libertadores in 2024, making them the final of the 32 CWC clubs to qualify (apart from that Concacaf play-off). They had never won a continental championship before.

River Plate- Argentina

After making it to the Copa Libertadores knockout stages in 2024, River Plate qualified through the CONMEBOL rankings. They have won 12 international trophies, including the Copa Libertadores in 2015 and 2018, and 54 local titles.

Boca Juniors- Argentina

Boca’s 2023 result as Fluminense’s runners-up was enough to secure them a ticket in the CWC based on the rankings, even though they did not compete in the 2024 Libertadores.

The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC)

Auckland City FC

The OFC Champions League winners will determine the OFC’s lone spot. With 11 Champions League victories in the last 14 years, Auckland is the dominant force in the OFC.

Union of European Football Associations (UEFA)

Chelsea- England

Four of UEFA’s twelve spots are awarded to the Champions League champions during the qualifying round. Kai Havertz’s goal right before halftime gave Thomas Tuchel’s team the victory, and Chelsea defeated Manchester City in the 2021 final to win that championship.

Real Madrid- Spain

Champions League winners in 2022 after defeating Liverpool and in 2024 after defeating Borussia Dortmund. They have won La Liga 36 times and a record 15 European championships.

Manchester City- England

Champions League winners in 2023 after defeating Inter. Rodri helped Pep Guardiola’s team win their first European championship in Istanbul with a 1-0 victory.

Bayern Munich- Germany

UEFA’s rankings were used to determine the nine additional berths because Madrid had already won the Champions League twice. Unless two teams from that nation had already qualified, Liverpool was left out. The teams that did the best in the Champions League during the qualification round were allowed entry. At least in each of the four seasons, Bayern has advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Paris Saint-Germain- France

PSG, which have advanced to the Champions League knockout rounds in 11 straight seasons and fared well during the four-year qualification era, was the second-best eligible-ranked team in the UEFA rankings.

Borussia Dortmund- Germany

According to the UEFA standings, the third-best eligible team. Dortmund won the European Championship in 1997, but they were admitted because of their strong Champions League play, which included making it to the final the previous year before falling to Real Madrid.

Inter- Italy

The fourth-ranked team in the UEFA rankings for eligibility. They have won three European titles, the most recent being in 2010, but their 2023 final appearance—in which they were defeated by Manchester City—was what earned them a spot in the CWC.

Porto- Portugal

The fifth-ranked team in the UEFA standings for eligibility. In addition to winning the UEFA Cup/Europa League twice and being European champions twice, most recently in 2004, Porto advanced to the CWC by consistent Champions League play during the four-year qualification season.

Atletico Madrid- Spain

The sixth-ranked team in the UEFA standings for eligibility. Although they have never won the Champions League, they have won the European Super Cup three times and the Europa League three times in nine seasons. They gained entry through their 2020–2024 Champions League accomplishments.

Benfica- Portugal

The seventh-ranked team in the UEFA standings for eligibility. With 38 titles, Benfica is the most decorated club in Portugal. They have been Champions League regulars and won back-to-back European titles in 1961 and 1962.

Juventus- Italy

After making it to the Champions League’s round of 16 twice in four years, the squad is now rated ninth in the UEFA rankings for eligibility. Juventus has won 36 domestic championships and two European championships, the last of which was in 1996.

Red Bull Salzburg- Austria

The squad with the ninth-highest UEFA ranking. Their accomplishments in the competition over the last four years earned them the final European slot.

Host nation club

Inter Miami- US

This choice caused controversy. Traditionally, the winner of the competition in the host country should occupy this position. The LA Galaxy won both the MLS Cup and the 2024 MLS playoffs.

However, FIFA declared in October of last year, following the conclusion of the regular season but before the playoffs, that the winners of a typical league setting, rather than the MLS Cup, should be awarded the host spot.

After winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield, which is given to the team with the best overall record after 34 games in the regular season, with 74 points, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami qualified for the playoffs after losing to Atlanta United in the first round.
