The Optimist World Championship, a brand-new nautical competition, is proudly announced by Camping Bungalow Resort La Ballena Alegre Costa Brava. From June 15 to June 25, 2023, this championship will be held at a campsite.

The Ballena Alegre Sailing Club, which is on the Costa Brava, will be the event’s host.

In a variety of competition categories, this sports competition will take place in the Optimist model manned boats. On the beach of Sant Pere Pescador, witnessing this nautical competition is an exciting experience.

Likewise, this year 2023 is the 60th anniversary of the Optimist World Championship. We expect that more than 60 Member States will join the Costa Brava to celebrate this significant occasion. The organizers are planning numerous activities to mark this event. The championship will main themes on sustainability and the environment.

Within the framework of the 50th Anniversary of the International Recognition of the Class and the 60th Edition of the World Championship, the Club de Vela La Ballena Alegre is promoting the exhibition “The Optimist a School of Sailors” as an opportunity to remember the Optimist Class’s origins and development.

This exhibit, created in collaboration with the Catalan network of maritime museums, this exhibition can be seen at the Museu de la Pesca in Palamós until March 26.

The beautiful 1958 wooden optimist, which is said to have been the first optimist to sail in Catalonia, the 1986 World Champion boat skippered by Spain’s Xavier Garcia Muret, and the modern IODA 95 optimist are all in the same room at the Palamós exhibition.

As a member of the Catalonia 2030 Alliance, the Club de Vela la Ballena Alegre is fully committed to the development of the project “2023 Optimist World Championship – Sustainable Experience.”

The exhibition is connected to the #SDG 11 – Sustainable cities and communities, protecting and safeguarding the world’s cultural and natural heritage.

The new global roadmap for moving toward sustainable development is the 2030 Agenda. It was approved by the United Nations in 2015 and consists of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that must be met by 2030. These SDGs cover the social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainability and focus on five major areas: planet, people, prosperity, peace, and alliances.

The Catalonia 2030 Alliance, promoted by the Government of Catalonia through its Advisory Council for Sustainable Development (CADS). is a collaboration between public and private organizations in which the nation’s commitments to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) are shared.

The National Agreement for the 2030 Agenda is the foundation of the Alliance. It lays out a common vision for how the Club can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reaffirms the Club’s commitment to them through actions already implemented online in the 2030 Agenda.

It will be an occasion worth seeing around the world.

The Optimist World Championships 2023 are being held in Spain on the Costa Brava from 15 June to 25 June 2023. Club Vela Ballena Alegre will organize the event, which will take place at Club Vela Ballena Alegre. These dates are the event date and all things considered, the team will go out right on time to get an opportunity to sail and find their way around the event site.
