Redesigned user interface to highlight Channel updates on WhatsApp
Currently getting close to the end of 2023, which has been a busy year for WhatsApp in terms of testing and releasing new features. Midway through 2023, WhatsApp debuted Channels to its user base, gradually adding new features for the platform. WhatsApp is introducing a redesigned Channel user interface (UI) in a new beta update, which will make the Channel updates stand out on WhatsApp.
Interestingly, sharing Channel messages as status updates is one of the new features that WABetaInfo noticed in the most recent WhatsApp beta v2.24.1.6 for Android. The WhatsApp Channel messages now have a button and a redesigned layout that draws attention to them and points users in the direction of the information source.
Similar to Instagram posts shared through Stories, the new WhatsApp Channel user interface
Instagram users may already be familiar with this new WhatsApp Channels user interface, since they are aware that the UI for sharing a post on Stories is similar. This modification, though, can be seen as Meta’s attempt to streamline and close the gap between all of its services, especially the user interface.
Since WhatsApp Channels is a feature designed to share information with millions of users, this is a nice, subtle change for the platform. More context for the shared content will be provided by the new user interface. For Status and Channel updates that are harmful or in violation of WhatsApp policy, there is already a flagging system in place.
According to the report, the latest beta update addresses a UI bug in addition to altering WhatsApp Channels’ user interface. The bug that obscured part of the chat wallpaper or the conversation and appeared as a big blue block on the bottom half of the screen was located near the attachment sheet. Thankfully, the most recent WhatsApp beta update addresses this issue.
