Tags, or Hashtags Without the Hash Symbol, are Introduced by Threads
Meta’s social network Threads is introducing tags, which function similarly to hashtags on other platforms but have some special extra features.
To add a tag to your post, use the new # button located in the Threads compose window. As tags do not contain the hash symbol and can be any word or phrase (with spaces), they fit into sentences more naturally than hashtags. Special characters can also be used in tags.
You can either make your own tag or use an existing one that you can choose from when you type in your tag. To prevent tag spam, users are limited to tagging a single topic per post. Clicking on a tag in a post allows users to view all of the posts in the search view.
Although all mentions of the used keywords appear in the same search screen regardless of whether the posts they are included in have also been tagged, tagging a post makes it easier to find in topic searches.
Currently, Threads still lacks a trending section and there is no way to order searches chronologically. This month, Meta plans to introduce Threads to the EU.
