Spotify Celebrates 20 Years With a New Feature Highlighting Your Complete Listening History
Spotify’s annual Wrapped recap gives users an overview of their favorite artists and most-played tracks from the year. As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, the streaming platform is now introducing a limited-time feature that highlights different details about users, including when they joined the app, the first song they streamed, their favorite artist, and a playlist featuring their most-played songs.
Although Spotify is technically marking its 20th anniversary, the timeline may seem confusing. The company is celebrating 20 years since it was founded, rather than when the service officially launched in 2008. (Spotify did not launch in the United States until 2011.) As part of the celebrations, Spotify is rolling out a feature called Party of the Year(s), which works similarly to Spotify Wrapped but covers a user’s entire history on the platform.
Users can find the feature by opening the Spotify app and searching for “Spotify 20” or “Party of the Year(s).”
The feature also generates a personalized playlist featuring users’ top 120 songs and shows how many times each track was played. In addition, it reveals the total number of unique songs users have streamed overall.
Similar to Wrapped, the feature allows users to share stat cards and personalized playlists with friends and across social media platforms.
In short, the feature gives users a chance to revisit their history with Spotify. It displays the date they first joined the platform, the total number of unique songs streamed, the very first song they played, and their most-streamed artists. It also includes a playlist containing a collection of their top 120 songs.
Like Wrapped, Spotify will also provide users with a personalized share card featuring most of this information. Users can post it on social media or send it directly to friends.
Spotify stated that the feature is available globally, although it will only remain accessible for six weeks.
The experience is currently limited to the Spotify app and is not available through the web player. To use it, users need to open the app and search for “Spotify 20” or “Party of the Year(s).”
Last month, the company also revealed lists of the platform’s most-streamed artists so far as part of its 20th anniversary celebration, with Taylor Swift taking the top spot, along with rankings for the most-streamed albums, songs and podcasts.
Spotify’s yearly Wrapped campaign continues to be a major source of user engagement for the platform. Last year, the company said Wrapped 2025 became its biggest campaign yet, with more than 200 million users engaging with the feature within the first 24 hours. Spotify added that this was 19% higher than the engagement seen during 2024’s AI-focused campaign, while users shared their Wrapped recaps over 500 million times.
